In late 2021, Hilti introduced the new Nuron lithium-ion battery platform, featuring state-of-the-art 22V lithium-ion battery technology, to provide users with more efficient, safer, and smarter construction solutions. In June 2023, Hilti launched its first multi-functional tool, the SMT 6-22, based on the Nuron lithium-ion battery, which was well-received by users. The Hilti SMT 6-22 features a brushless motor, with a saw blade's unloaded oscillation speed reaching up to 20,000 OPM. Instead of using a traditional knob-style speed control switch, Hilti has implemented a 6-speed electronic speed control switch. The speed control switch is designed to be located at the upper rear end of the tool body, making it convenient to monitor and adjust the oscillation speed during operation. Additionally, the speed control switch has a memory function, so once set, it will automatically switch to the speed setting used during the previous shutdown when powered on again.
The main power switch adopts a sliding switch design, located at the upper part of the handle grip position, allowing users to conveniently operate the switch with their thumb while gripping the tool.
The Hilti SMT 6-22 features a blade oscillation amplitude of 4° (+/-2°), making it one of the multi-tools with a relatively large oscillation range. Combined with the high oscillation rate of up to 20000 OPM, it greatly enhances cutting or grinding efficiency.
Regarding vibration, the Hilti SMT 6-22 adopts an isolated head design, significantly reducing the vibration felt in the handle. According to feedback from testing agencies, the vibration level is better than most products on the market but still slightly lags behind top-tier brands like Fein and Makita.

The blade installation of the Hilti SMT 6-22 utilizes the Starlock Max system. Simply rotate the control lever counterclockwise to release the blade. After replacing the blade, turn the control lever clockwise to return it to its original position, making the process quick and convenient.
The Hilti SMT 6-22 has a length of 12-3/4 inches, a bare weight of 2.9 pounds, and a weight of 4.2 pounds with the B 22-55 Nuron battery attached. The handle grip is coated with soft rubber, providing excellent grip and handling.
